The fishbowls with marbles

The fishbowls with marbles

🗣I have recently heard Simon Sinek speak about how he used to have two fishbowls in his room, and he filled one of them with marbles: one marble for each week he had left on the planet, on average. Each week he would take one marble and think if he did something to inspire someone or if he made a positive impact in someone’s life. If yes, then he would put the marble in the other fishbowl, if not, he would throw the marble away because he wasted it.

Now I can see why this is not for everyone, thinking about the prospect of death ☠ is not pleasant, I don’t like to think about death. But at the same time, this metaphor is about all the things you can still do and how well you spend your time with regards to what you want to achieve today, next week and every of the weeks after. It’s a reminder that time ⌛ is limited and an acknowledgement of the progress you make every week towards your aspirations.

I didn’t get fishbowls and marbles but made a visit to IKEA and got two jars and a box of beads. Now let’s fill that fishbowl! 💪
