While it’s great to focus on your core product, you do notice when a company goes the extra mile in understanding how their product is being used and how to make the best journey for their users.

🖋️ Look at these ink bottles. Notice anything special on any of them? You got it: that dip in the bottle allows fountain pen users to easily suck even the last drop of ink from the bottle. Such a tiny difference, but in my view it actually says a lot about the company and their products. And they can even charge more for it (the Pilot ink is the most expensive in this lot).

🤔 Coming from the #platformengineering world, I feel like we are still struggling even with the idea of building platforms as products. How many companies out there have TPMs or someone responsible for taking the product view of the internal technical platforms?

Going the extra mile for really understanding users and perfecting how the platform works for them seems somewhere out there, even though it is one of the things people talk quite a lot about.

Still, every once in a while, you stumble on one of these products or platforms that really take it to the top.

I just wish these were more of the norm, rather than the exception.
